Ukraine will insist on its position.

The prospect of Ukraine's membership in NATO was called “unlikely” in Washington. In particular, such a statement was recently made by the US President's National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz. However, one should not pay attention to such skepticism.

Ukraine will insist on its position, since for it this is a matter of security. This opinion was voiced by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy of Ukraine and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Oleksandr Merezhko, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.

“Unlikely” is the word used, among others, by the US President's National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz. But this does not mean that we are talking about a total denial of this possibility,” Merezhko emphasized.

He recalled that when the next stages of the Alliance's expansion took place, similar polemics were going on around the accession of such states as Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland.

“There were discussions then, too, and there were politicians, including in the American establishment, who said that this was unlikely. But for Ukraine, this is simply a necessity. And here we do not even need to pay attention to skepticism. Because the NATO issue is a question of our security and survival as a state. Therefore, we will continue to work, we will insist,” the speaker emphasized.

In addition, Merezhko added, Ukraine has many allies who support this course.

“We must always remember that we have many allies both in the United States and among NATO member states that support Ukraine. Therefore, this is not something unlikely. It is necessary, and it will definitely happen,” the expert concluded.
