In the case of a bribe of 100 million rubles.

FSB and Investigative Committee officers detained in Moscow the vice-governor of Vologda region Denis Alekseev and the head of the region's representative office Kirill Bocharov in the case of taking a bribe on a particularly large scale (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was reported by ‘Kommersant’ with reference to sources.

According to the investigation, the officials demanded 100 million roubles from the management of the Bereznik timber enterprise for renewing the agreement on the lease of land plots for logging in Vologda Region.

The officials were caught red-handed while receiving 30 million roubles in the premises of Vologda Region's representative office in Starokonyushenny Pereulok.

‘Kommersant’ writes that the officials also promised the company general patronage and participation in the regional government's investment projects. During the meetings that have already taken place, Bocharov managed to receive the first 20 million roubles. These meetings were held under the supervision of law enforcement agencies. Later, the marked money was found at the home of the envoy.

According to the newspaper, Alekseev refused to testify, ‘referring to his poor health’. The newspaper's interlocutors in the Vologda regional authorities admitted that the 44-year-old vice-governor, who has been in office for a year, ‘could have accidentally ended up in this affair’.
