The anniversary of the famous battle of 1514 was celebrated in Vorsha district. As orsha.eu writes, a traditional bard festival was held there. The place of gathering was not announced publicly. Several dozen people arrived at the secret location. Songs and poems were played at the festival.

The publication notes the importance of the fact that "the tradition was not interrupted .... even in the conditions of the current repressions".

The history of the "Vorsha Battle" festival goes back several decades (it started in Soviet times). Sometimes the participants were detained by the police (artist Ales Pushkin, who died this year behind bars, was among them).

On September 8, Belarus celebrates the unofficial Day of Belarusian Military Glory - in honour of the Battle of Vorsha in 1514. The army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, commanded by Hetman Konstantin Ostrozhsky, defeated a much larger army of the Moscow principality. The Battle of Vorsha is one of the most significant victories of the GDL army.
